My Story
12 years ago I found myself standing behind the man I loved and feared, holding a knife to his throat ready to end his life. I had just endured more than 5 hours of continuous beating and now found myself staring at my boyfriend snoring in a recliner in a drunken sleep. My face and eyes were swollen and knotted. My hair was matted and clothes stained with my own blood.
I felt shame. I felt rage. How had I allowed myself to get in that position AGAIN.
Honestly, I also felt this would be my only opportunity to end my suffering. But I glanced over at my 2 week old son (also covered in my blood) and realized that I can’t protect him or his 3 year old brother from a jail cell. Killing this man would be something I can’t take back and I would never be able to fulfill my purpose on this planet.
The truth is that my life, my story, can pave a safer and stronger way for others who have yet to start down that journey to freedom. Each of us have the ability to create change and make an impact in the world around us and I want to do my part to help YOU share your impactful story with the masses. You never know whose life it can save.
